Gurugram to Get a 1,000-Acre Township: A Republic Day Announcement That Signals a New Urban Era
On Republic Day, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini announced plans for a 1,000-acre integrated township in Gurugram under the ambitious Global City Project. The announcement instantly caught the attention of investors, homebuyers, and industry leaders.
Clearly, Haryana wants Gurugram to evolve from a business hub into a truly global city.
🇮🇳 Republic Day Speech Focuses on Unity, Growth, and Reform
The chief minister unfurled the national flag in Gurugram and paid floral tribute to martyrs at the Veer Shaheedi Memorial. He began his address by honouring freedom fighters, Dr BR Ambedkar, and members of the Constituent Assembly.
He reminded citizens that Republic Day reflects India’s unity in diversity. At the same time, it highlights the country’s spirit of self-reliance.
From there, Saini shifted the focus to development. Haryana, he said, is moving rapidly in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat.” The government continues to abandon outdated practices and adopts transparent systems to uplift the poor and middle class.
Manifesto Promises Turning Into Action
Performance matters more than promises.
Saini shared concrete numbers to back his claims.
Out of 217 resolutions taken during the last Assembly elections, the government completed 54 within a single year. Work on the remaining commitments continues at full speed.
Several reforms have already drawn national attention. These include bina parchi–bina kharchi recruitment, online property registry, a transparent transfer policy, and the Antyodaya initiative.
Together, these reforms improved governance efficiency and built public trust. As a result, Haryana now finds it easier to roll out large-scale projects like the Global City township.
Haryana’s Economy Outperforms Its Size
Haryana’s economic strength stood out in the speech.
Despite covering only 1.34% of India’s land and 2.09% of its population, the state contributes 3.7% to the national GDP.
Even more impressively, Haryana ranks first among major states in per capita income at ₹3.53 lakh. It also leads in per capita GST collection.
Additionally, Haryana features in the Top Achievers category for Ease of Doing Business. It also ranks first in north India and second nationwide for logistics infrastructure.
These achievements position the state as a natural destination for global investments.
MSME Growth and Faster Approvals Boost Confidence
Over the past 11 years, Haryana witnessed strong industrial growth.
During this period, the state established 1.29 million MSMEs, creating employment for 4.9 million people.
At the same time, the government simplified investor processes. Today, more than 150 services remain available online for investors. Authorities now grant approvals within 12 days, significantly reducing delays.
Because of this speed and clarity, large projects like Gurugram’s Global City gain momentum faster.
The 1,000-Acre Global City Project Explained
The highlight of the speech remained Gurugram’s future.
Saini described the city as a global hub for IT companies and startups. To support this growth, the government is developing a 1,000-acre township under the Global City Project.
The township will offer integrated development. It will combine commercial spaces, residential zones, and modern infrastructure. Moreover, planners aim to follow sustainable and future-ready urban design principles.
This project will attract multinational corporations, global talent, and long-term capital. Over time, it will redefine Gurugram’s urban identity.
Real Estate Market Set for Long-Term Upside

Sanjeev Singh, Managing Director, SKJ Landbase, sees the township as a long-term growth catalyst.
“The 1,000-acre Global City township will significantly enhance Gurugram’s real estate landscape. It will create demand for premium residential projects, Grade-A offices, and mixed-use developments. This is a structural growth story that will play out over the next decade,” Singh said.
According to him, infrastructure-led planning consistently delivers sustainable appreciation rather than short-term spikes.
Employment, Women Empowerment, and Welfare
The chief minister also highlighted social progress.
On October 17, 2024, the government provided 24,000 government jobs. Last year alone, 34,000 youths found employment.
Over 11 years, Haryana created 1.8 lakh jobs and provided skill training to 1.1 lakh youngsters.
Women empowerment remains a priority. Under the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi scheme, 8.6 lakh women receive ₹2,100 per month. Additionally, 2.3 lakh women have become “Lakhpati Didis.”
Law, Order, and Safety Strengthen Growth
Strong development needs strong law enforcement.
Saini said public safety remains a top priority. Operations like Track Town, Clean, and Prahari have strengthened policing.
Since December 1, authorities arrested over 2,200 criminals under Operation Hotspot Domination. Under the Drug-Free Haryana campaign, police made 6,000+ arrests and seized properties worth ₹12 crore.
What This Means for Gurugram’s Future
The Republic Day announcement sends a clear signal.
Haryana plans to scale up, not slow down.
With the 1,000-acre Global City township, Gurugram steps into its next growth phase—planned, global, and future-ready. For investors, businesses, and homebuyers, the opportunity now looks bigger than ever.
Gurugram is not just expanding.
It is transforming.
